Over 60 Taxpayer's Benefit Program

The Over 60 Taxpayers Benefit Program allows enrollment of persons 60 years of age or older without payment of the admission application fee and most registration fees.

Benefits:

¨       You may attend any class for which you have the prerequisites on a space available basis.

¨       Most fees are waived.

¨       You may work toward a degree for credit or not - it is your choice.

¨       You have access to counseling and support from educational counseling and all other student services.

Requirements:

¨       Open to any California resident (60 years of age or older).

¨       You must meet all regular admission requirements. (For details, see the University's General Catalog and the Schedule of Classes which are available in the Spartan Bookstore or at the SJSU website-www.sjsu.edu).

¨       You must submit an application for admission (but no fee) and have your transcripts sent from all the colleges attended to the Admissions Office. The application period for the fall semester begins the preceding November and for the spring semester the preceding August. If you do not have any previous college work, or if you have fewer than 56 transferable semester equivalent units, you will need to have your high school transcript sent.

Conditions:

¨       There is no pre-registration; classes are available on a space-limited basis.  You can sign up for class on the first day of classes after you have received an add code from your instructor.

¨       Students must be admitted to benefit.

¨       Open University is excluded. 

¨       The fee waiver applies only to regular classes.
