My name is Irene Baba and I hope to gain your support to become your 2008-2009 Associated Students Controller. I am currently a sophomore here at San Jose State University and plan on graduating May 2010 with a B.S. degree in Corporate Financial Management.

As of right now, I am the Treasurer on the executive board of the Joe West Hall Government. At the same time, I hold another treasurer position on the executive board of CHALC (Community Housing Association of Leadership Councils). I am an active member in the Latino Business Student Association here on campus and demonstrate school spirit by also being apart of the SJSU Marching Band and Pep Band. I have recently secured a competitive internship with PricewaterhousCoopers LLP, a very prestigious accounting firm, for the summer of 2008. All of my experiences have helped me to better prepare for this position.

As Controller I plan to:

Raise student awareness of who Associated Students are and what services they have to offer
Better educate the student body as to where their money is going
Promote student involvement by having all students have a say on how their money is being spent
Keep a detailed balanced budget at all times

Being apart of Associated Students will take a lot of time, commitment, and responsibility. I know I am ready to dedicate myself to helping the SJSU community.
