Prevention Education Program (Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention)

Objective: To promote responsible choices about alcohol, drugs, and increase awareness of issues of sexual assault and date/acquaintance rape, through individual counseling and outreach events (presentations, displays, referrals and distributing resources).

Services:

The Prevention Education Program provides programs, lectures, and seminars across the SJSU campus in the following areas:

  • Effects of alcohol and/or drug use on academic performance
  • Responsible choices
  • Responsible Drinking/ Safe Partying
  • Responsible Hosting
  • Effects of alcohol on health
  • Alcohol and drug use on the body 
  • Effects and risks of club drugs
  • Effects and risks of ecstasy
  • Gender effects of alcohol and/or drug use
  • Marijuana use
  • Health effects of steroids and other performance enhancing drugs
  • Effects of alcohol and drug use during pregnancy
  • Sexual Assault Prevention
  • Date rape/ acquaintance rape
  • Alcohol and drug use as safety hazards
